Circle’s Arc Mainnet Launch: Meme Coins Dominate $410.8M Opening-Day Volume
Circle’s Arc blockchain made a massive debut on September 16, recording approximately $410.8 million in decentralized-exchange trading volume on its first day of public mainnet. However, meme coin launchpads—not institutional finance—dominated the opening-day activity.
According to BeInCrypto and Dune data compiled by analyst Adam, launchpad tokens accounted for approximately 82% of Arc’s first-day DEX volume, generating $336.26 million in trading activity.
🚀 Launchpad Activity Takes Center Stage
Arguspad led the launchpad sector with $202.35 million in trading volume, followed by:
- Arguspad: $202.35M
- Minara.fun: $36.41M
- Tollylabs: $19.65M
Arguspad also minted 83,751 tokens within 24 hours, representing more than 86% of all tokens created on Arc during that period.
Overall, traders minted 97,025 tokens and processed 7.76 million transactions on the network.
🏦 Institutional Ambitions vs. Speculative Trading
Circle designed Arc as an open Layer 1 blockchain focused on financial markets, real-time money movement and machine-driven economic activity.
The network’s ecosystem includes major financial institutions and companies such as BlackRock, Visa, Mastercard, DTCC and ICE. Asset managers are exploring tokenized funds, while payment companies are considering stablecoin settlement on the chain.
Despite these institutional ambitions, speculative meme coin trading defined Arc’s first day.
📊 Can Arc Sustain Its Momentum?
Arc’s opening-day volume was nearly 28 times greater than Robinhood Chain’s $14.74 million debut on July 1, based on the figures reported.
The key question is whether Arc can maintain this momentum beyond its launch frenzy. Will institutional adoption and real-world financial applications drive sustained activity, or will speculative launchpad trading continue to dominate?
The coming weeks will reveal whether Arc’s long-term growth is powered by institutional finance, meme coin speculation, or a combination of both.
