According to U.S. and Japanese officials, the two countries are discussing a joint semiconductor plant as part of their agreed $550 billion investment plan. Nikkei said the project could be worth 2 trillion to 3 trillion yen, and the talks were held on September 14-15. GlobalFoundries would operate the plant.
