One question though....

Who exactly is supposed to “pace the frontier”?

Every AI company?
Just OpenAI and Anthropic?

Because if the argument is that only the frontier labs are powerful enough to be dangerous....then everyone behind them technically has no reason to slow down

So OpenAI and Anthropic pause

Everyone else keeps going and catches up

But if everyone is supposed to slow down at the same time....then what?

You basically freeze the leaderboard exactly where it is

OpenAI and Anthropic keep the massive lead they already have....everyone else stays behind....and regulation becomes a pretty convenient moat around the frontier.....just as they pretty much wanted

Let the other players fight for the scraps

So which one is it?

Only the leaders pause and everyone catches up....

Or everybody pauses and the leaders keep their advantage?

And if everyone eventually reaches the frontier, do we just open a group chat and say:

“Alright guys....now everybody stop”
