We have now seen the global count of data centers surpass 12,000 facilities located across 179 countries. Building these structures is getting noticeably more expensive, though. Based on ConstructConnect's own report, the median construction cost for a data center in 2026 will reach $570 per square foot. This marks a 38% jump from the 2025 figure of $415. Fortunately, because Filecoin capacity is distributed globally, it is not impacted by these new costs.
