Banking was never a career path I genuinely liked. My introduction to the industry at Union Bank was made incredibly difficult by my first boss, whose management style left me deeply depressed and multiplied my pain by x1000. Throughout that difficult period, the only person who made my time at Union Bank enjoyable was my wonderful friend Glory. She has a truly kind soul, and we remain the best of friends to this day.
When the opportunity arose, Glory demonstrated her loyalty by using her network to secure positions for both of us at Sterling Bank. She could have easily moved on alone, but she chose not to abandon me. That shared move marked our transition out of Union Bank and into a much better environment.
My time at Sterling Bank was the only phase of my financial career that I actually enjoyed. The transition introduced me to wonderful individuals like Madam Nne, Mr. David West, and the late Madam Florence, among others. I will always remember how Madam Florence, may her beautiful soul rest in peace, protected me from workplace pressure so that it would not affect my baby, especially during my first trimester.
To this day, my role at Sterling Bank stands as the best paid employment of my professional journey. Yet, even while earning a 1m monthly salary, I still hold a personal dislike for banking work. I eventually walked away because it simply was not my passion, but I will always appreciate Sterling Bank for offering me an environment filled with beautiful human connections and a high level of professionalism.
