The security situation around the Red Sea is rapidly becoming more dangerous as Iran-aligned Houthi forces expand their control along Yemen’s western coastline.
The Houthis have captured the strategic port city of Mokha and made gains near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, one of the world’s most important maritime chokepoints. Their advance has increased concerns over shipping, Saudi oil exports and regional security.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has reportedly urged U.S. President Donald Trump to launch direct strikes against the Houthis. Trump has so far declined direct U.S. military intervention, although Washington has reportedly offered intelligence and targeting assistance to Saudi Arabia.
For Saudi Arabia, the threat is not only about Yemen. Houthi control of territory and strategic positions near the Red Sea could threaten Saudi infrastructure, energy exports and maritime routes.
For Israel, the situation carries a separate strategic risk. A stronger Houthi presence around the Red Sea could increase the threat to Israeli shipping and potentially give Iran and its regional allies greater leverage over a critical international waterway.
This raises a major question:
🇮🇱 Could Israel coordinate with Saudi Arabia to counter the Houthis and other Iran-aligned forces in the region if the threat continues to grow?
At this stage, there is no confirmed announcement that Israel will join Saudi Arabia in bombing Houthi targets. Any Israeli involvement would represent a major regional escalation and could potentially trigger retaliation from the Houthis, Iran or other allied groups.
With both the Red Sea and Strait of Hormuz facing disruption, the conflict is increasingly becoming not just a Yemen issue, but a wider struggle over energy security, global shipping and regional power.
The key question now is whether Saudi Arabia will act largely on its own, seek broader regional support, or push Israel and the United States toward a coordinated response.
The next move could have major consequences for the entire Middle East — and global oil markets. 🌍⛽
