Picture this: 240 British investors each clear more than £1 million in crypto gains in a single tax year.

That headline can trigger FOMO fast. But it hides the harder question: how many investors bought too late, held through the downturn, or failed to lock in profits?

In the year ending April 2025, those 240 investors reported gains totalling £717 million. That works out to roughly £2.99 million per investor, although the distribution is likely heavily skewed toward a small number of exceptional winners.

The warning is in what the figure does not show. It does not reveal their entry points, exit timing, leverage, or how many traders lost money chasing $BTC, $ETH, or $SOL after the strongest moves had already happened.

Big realised gains are evidence that opportunity existed. They are not evidence that copying the trade today carries the same risk or reward.

What do you think this data says about crypto wealth creation versus late-stage FOMO?
