$ETH EIP-8141: Account Abstraction Scheduled for Ethereum's Hegotá Upgrade

Ethereum core developers have officially scheduled EIP-8141 (Account Abstraction) for the upcoming Hegotá upgrade.

🔸 EIP-8141 has moved from "Review" to "Scheduled" status, marking the official arrival of Account Abstraction on Ethereum L1.

🔸 This move comes as EIP-8130 a competing design prepares to launch on Base in September, raising concerns about standard fragmentation between L1 and L2.

🔸 Developers are aiming for a unified transaction standard: maintaining flexibility for L1 while allowing L2s to optimize for performance and DoS resistance, with the goal of making accounts interoperable across the entire Ethereum ecosystem.

👉 This represents a major step forward for the Ethereum user experience. Account Abstraction will enable greater wallet flexibility, supporting features such as gas payments in alternative tokens, batch transactions, and account recovery capabilities currently largely limited to L2 networks. Implementing this on L1 will ensure consistent operation for applications and wallets across the ecosystem. However, the competition between standards (EIP-8141 vs. EIP-8130) raises questions regarding compatibility and the choices projects will make.

💬 Do you think Account Abstraction will revolutionize Ethereum's UX? Will L2 networks adopt the same standard?
