$BTC Bitcoin Completes Its First Quantum Safe Transaction

Bitcoin has reportedly completed its first transaction secured with QSB or Quantum Safe Bitcoin.

The new approach is designed to protect Bitcoin against Shor’s algorithm which could theoretically allow powerful quantum computers to break the elliptic curve cryptography Bitcoin currently relies on.

What makes QSB interesting is that it works within Bitcoin’s existing legacy rules. No hard fork or consensus change was required to execute the transaction.

As quantum computing continues to advance this could become an important step toward making Bitcoin more resilient against future cryptographic threats.

Quantum computing may still be years away from posing a real threat but preparing for it today could be one of the most important challenges for Bitcoin’s long term security.
