From enterprise blockchain adoption to institutional crypto, IOST strengthened its long-standing presence in Japan through two major events during WebX 2026.

This summer, IOST returned to Tokyo for WebX 2026, joining partners, institutions, and leading Web3 projects for two days of conversations around the next stage of blockchain adoption in Japan.

With an eight-year presence in the Japanese market, IOST used the occasion to reinforce its commitment to the region while exploring new opportunities across enterprise and institutional adoption.

Day 1: Blockchain NEXUS #2 by NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL

On the first day of WebX 2026, IOST sponsored Blockchain NEXUS #2, hosted by NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL, a company actively exploring and supporting enterprise blockchain adoption.

IOST Co-CEO Blake took the stage to discuss the importance of Japan within the broader Asian market and IOST’s path toward greater enterprise-level adoption.

The event brought together active Web3 projects and established companies in Japan, including representatives from the financial sector. This created an opportunity for both sides to exchange perspectives and discuss how blockchain technology can move beyond experimentation toward practical, real-world applications.

Day 2: Institutional Night by OKJ

On the second day, IOST sponsored Institutional Night, an official WebX side event hosted by OKJ.

During the event, Blake reflected on IOST’s long history in Japan. After eight years of active involvement in the market — and six years since Japanese exchanges including OKJ began listing IOST — the project has built deep connections and experience that provide a strong foundation for its next stage of growth in the country.

Held 180 meters above Tokyo with Tokyo Tower as the backdrop, Institutional Night brought together financial institutions, licensed crypto asset exchanges, financial securities firms, staking infrastructure providers, and other industry participants.

The setting reflected a broader shift taking place in Japan. As the country continues discussions around bringing crypto assets under the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, conversations between the crypto industry and traditional financial institutions are becoming increasingly important.

Events such as Institutional Night provide a valuable environment for these two worlds to meet and explore the growing role of digital assets within Japan’s investment and financial infrastructure.

Continuing Our Journey in Japan

From enterprise adoption on Day 1 to institutional finance on Day 2, our time at WebX 2026 reflected the opportunities emerging across Japan’s evolving blockchain landscape.

For IOST, Japan is not a new market. It has been an important part of our journey since the early days of the project. As the country’s approach to blockchain and digital assets continues to mature, we look forward to building on those long-standing relationships and exploring the next chapter together.

A Message from Blake to the IOST Japan Community
