BNB Chain activates Pasteur hardfork with fuller blocks and stronger security
$BNB Smart Chain’s Pasteur hardfork goes live on Aug. 25 at 02:30 UTC, introducing BEP-682, BEP-695 and BEP-675 to strengthen bridge verification, validator key rotation and governance while allowing blocks to carry more transactions.
BEP-675 targets higher throughput without increasing the 450ms block interval or 100M gas limit. In QANet tests, throughput rose from 1,237 to 2,324 TPS, while validator critical-path time fell from 125ms to 15ms. Average block gas used rose from 46.35M to 84.15M, with no change in finality lag.
Mainnet nodes must run v1.7.7 before activation. The benchmark figures are testnet results, not mainnet measurements.
