$457M in shorts torched as Bitcoin ripped past $81K.

BTC cleared $80,000 for the first time in 3 months on Tuesday, topping an intraday $81,235 and forcing ~$645M in liquidations in 24h — $457M of it shorts vs just $189M longs (Incrypted). Spot BTC ETFs flipped from outflows to a $600M inflow day on Aug 20 (Yahoo Finance).

The spark was macro: the US Treasury expanding its long-term bond-buying program, softening the dollar and pushing money into scarce assets. And ETH is the quiet leader — up ~27% on the week vs BTC's ~21%.

BTC has since cooled to ~$78.5K. The level traders are watching is a clean hold of $80K into month-end; ETH's relative strength says risk appetite isn't done yet. $BTC $ETH

Squeeze fuel spent — or does BTC reclaim $80K before September?
