The part of Dusk’s tokenomics I’m watching isn’t the headline APY. It’s whether real financial activity can eventually absorb the supply being added to the network.

$DUSK has two core jobs on mainnet: paying for gas and securing the chain through staking. Every transaction consumes DUSK for execution, while the protocol is scheduled to emit another 500M DUSK over 36 years, with emissions halving every four years. (DOCS)

That creates an interesting economic race.

Dusk says it already has €300M+ in confirmed issuance with institutions and more than 210M DUSK staked. (Dusk) But institutional headlines only become meaningful for the token if they translate into sustained on-chain activity: settlements, asset issuance, transfers and contract execution.

And this is where my thesis becomes conditional.

If transaction demand compounds faster than the market discounts future emissions, utility could become a genuine source of structural demand. If adoption moves slowly, staking emissions remain the easier metric for traders to price.

I’m therefore watching fees, transaction growth and actual institutional settlement activity rather than announcements alone. Dusk’s explorer exposes transaction, fee and gas data, making this thesis measurable rather than theoretical. (DOCS)

So what wins first: institutional utility becoming visible on-chain, or supply growth keeping $DUSK trapped in a speculative cycle?
