Asia-Pacific major stock indexes closed higher across the board on August 26. According to Sina Finance, South Korea's KOSPI closed up 0.97% at 6,808.21 points.

South Korean memory chip giants SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics rose in volatile trading, with both at one point gaining more than 3%. In late trading, both shares pulled back sharply, and their gains narrowed to 0.6% and 1.75%, respectively. Japan's Nikkei 225 closed up 0.62% at 66,262.16 points, while memory chip maker Kioxia fell 2.46% and SoftBank Group rose 1.49%.
