#dusk $DUSK @Dusk Dusk staking looks simple until you ask one question: when does your stake actually become active?

Walking through Dusk's staking dashboard for the task one thing that made me stop scrolling wasn't the APY number it was the fine print on eligibility.
Minimum stake is 1,000 DUSK, no upper cap. Simple enough. But stake doesn't actually become eligible for consensus duty the moment you lock it there's a maturity window roughly 2 epochs around 4,320 blocks before it counts for sortition.
On paper "stake and earn" sounds instant. Pull the string and you find a real activation lag plus penalization doesn't just vanish your stake it routes into a claimable rewards pool rather than a flat slash. Different risk shape than I expected.
I caught myself assuming staking = immediate yield the second you deposit. It doesn't work that way here.
Grabbed a coffee mid task and kept turning this over. Makes me wonder how many stakers actually track their maturity window versus just assuming rewards start day one?
