I've been circling the Dusk and NPEX thing for a few days instead of scrolling past it, which usually means something's actually bugging me and not just another announcement.

I've seen this shape before. Take something illiquid and regulated, wrap it in tokens, promise it'll be simpler and faster. Every cycle has one of these. Most quietly stop mentioning volumes a year later.
What might be different — I think — is that NPEX already has the license and the track record, actual financings, actual investors, not a testnet with a press release. That's not nothing. But a license doesn't solve liquidity, and I keep noticing nobody talks about who's actually on the other side when you want to sell a tokenized bond at 2am.

Privacy-preserving settlement sounds good until I ask who audits the privacy, who holds custody when something breaks, and whether "regulated" is just doing a lot of quiet work in the marketing copy.

I don't fully trust the "shorter path" language either. Shorter for who — the issuer, the investor, or the platform collecting fees at every hop between them?

Still, bolting real compliance onto a working market, instead of hoping regulation eventually catches up to another chain, makes me pause longer than the usual announcement does.
I'm not sure yet. But I'm watching this one differently than the others.
