Bitcoin Jumps to $79,000 with $65M in Short Liquidations

Bitcoin has climbed back to the $79,000 area in the latest move higher.

The advance was accompanied by approximately $65 million in short liquidations over the past 12 hours. When price rises quickly, leveraged short positions are forced to close by buying back bitcoin, which adds extra upward pressure in the short term.

This push continues the strong rebound that began from the mid-$60,000s earlier in the week. Bitcoin is now testing levels near the top of its recent range. The move comes alongside ongoing U.S. Treasury bond buybacks and the solid ETF inflows recorded last week.

Bitcoin has reclaimed the $79,000 region with short liquidations contributing to the advance. Whether it can hold and extend from here will depend on follow-through and broader market conditions.
