Wall Street Expands Its Crypto Bet as XRP, Solana and HYPE Surge
$SOL $XRP $HYPE
I’m seeing a noticeable shift in institutional crypto demand as investors increasingly look beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. Last week, U.S.-listed crypto funds tied to altcoins attracted nearly $90 million in net inflows, with XRP, Solana, Chainlink and Hyperliquid leading the move.

The fresh capital arrived as the broader crypto market rallied sharply. While Bitcoin and Ethereum continued to dominate institutional flows, the growing interest in alternative cryptocurrencies suggests that investors are becoming more willing to take exposure to the wider digital-asset market.

XRP Leads the Altcoin Inflows

XRP-based investment products recorded the strongest performance among the smaller crypto funds, attracting approximately $39.78 million during the week ending August 21.

That was XRP’s best weekly inflow since mid-May, when the products received around $60.5 million. It also extended the sector’s positive streak to six consecutive weeks.

During that period, XRP funds accumulated roughly $72 million, bringing their total net inflows since launch to about $1.55 billion.

The strong fund demand coincided with a major move in XRP’s price. XRP climbed roughly 50% during the week, rising from below $1 to around $1.60 before giving back some of its gains and trading near $1.49.

Trading activity also surged. Weekly volume for XRP products reached a record $271.74 million, showing that investor interest accelerated alongside the token's price breakout.

Solana Extends Its Winning Streak

Solana also continued to attract institutional money. Solana-related funds recorded approximately $28.34 million in inflows last week, marking their eighth consecutive week of positive flows.

The latest figure was the strongest weekly inflow for Solana products since about $58 million entered the funds in May.

Across the eight-week period, Solana products have attracted roughly $56.3 million, pushing their cumulative net inflows to approximately $1.19 billion.

The renewed demand comes as SOL attempts to recover from its earlier weakness. The cryptocurrency jumped around 24% last week and briefly moved above $100, reaching levels not seen since February. It later retreated toward $93.

Bitcoin and Ethereum Still Dominate

Despite the growing attention on altcoins, Bitcoin and Ethereum remained far ahead of the smaller funds in terms of capital attracted.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $1.92 billion in weekly inflows, while Ethereum products brought in around $697 million.

Combined, the two largest cryptocurrencies attracted about $2.61 billion, representing their strongest combined weekly inflow since October 2025 and their best performance of 2026.

Compared with those numbers, the nearly $90 million flowing into altcoin products is relatively small. However, I believe the importance of the latest figures lies in the direction of the money rather than its size.

Investors are no longer concentrating their crypto exposure exclusively on the two largest assets.

Hyperliquid Gains Momentum

The institutional appetite also reached newer crypto assets. Hyperliquid funds attracted approximately $3.89 million last week, marking their third consecutive week of positive inflows.

The three-week streak has generated nearly $10 million in new capital. Cumulative inflows into Hyperliquid products now stand near $287 million, while assets held by the products have climbed above $350 million.

HYPE also experienced a major price rally, reaching a record near $82 before easing to roughly $79.

A potential regulatory catalyst added to the momentum. During an August 19 White House meeting with crypto executives, President Donald Trump highlighted efforts to create a legal pathway for Hyperliquid to operate in the United States.

Trump also called on Congress to move forward with crypto market-structure legislation, adding to a series of regulatory developments that helped improve sentiment across digital assets.

Chainlink Sees Its Strongest Revival

Chainlink products also recorded a significant rebound. They attracted approximately $13.35 million last week, their largest weekly inflow since the funds launched.

The latest investment pushed cumulative net inflows into Chainlink products to around $142 million.

LINK itself gained approximately 22% during the week, briefly reaching $12 for the first time since January before pulling back toward $11.40.

Other altcoin products recorded smaller inflows. Avalanche funds received around $1.3 million, Hedera products attracted roughly $848,000, and Dogecoin ETFs brought in approximately $654,416.

Institutional Interest Is Spreading

For me, the most significant takeaway from last week’s data is that the crypto rally is beginning to spread beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Bitcoin and Ethereum still absorb the overwhelming majority of institutional capital, but consecutive weeks of positive flows into XRP, Solana and Hyperliquid suggest that investors are becoming increasingly comfortable moving further down the crypto market.

The nearly $90 million invested in these altcoin products is modest compared with the $2.61 billion that went into Bitcoin and Ethereum funds. Nevertheless, the combination of stronger prices, higher trading volumes and extended inflow streaks points to a broader institutional appetite for digital assets.

If this trend continues, I expect altcoins to receive considerably more attention from traditional investors as the crypto market enters its next phase.
