I keep coming back to Dusk Network's whole pitch: privacy AND compliance, not privacy vs compliance. Easy to say, brutal to build.

Selective disclosure sounds elegant on paper — auditors see what they need, nobody else sees the rest. But who holds the viewing key? What happens when a court order needs more than "selective" was designed for? That's not a crypto problem anymore, that's law wearing a smart contract costume.

The ZK tech is mostly there at this point. What's not there is everything around it — custody support, audit frameworks for encrypted state, exchanges willing to list something that smells like a privacy coin even when it's really built for tokenized securities. Dusk leans hard into the "regulated finance" framing to dodge that stigma. Not sure the market draws that line as cleanly as they'd like.

Also, confidential contracts aren't free. Proof generation costs something, and that cost lands somewhere — fees, throughput, or centralization toward whoever's got the hardware. Haven't seen real sustained usage yet to know how that tradeoff actually plays out here.

What I respect is the narrow scope. Not trying to be everything, just infrastructure for regulated asset issuance. Smaller bet, maybe a smarter one.

Still watching for a real deployment that isn't just a pilot with a press release attached. Execution's going to decide this one, not the whitepaper.
