Doubao team is expected to launch an office product as early as next week to rival Tencent WorkBuddy, according to Jiemian News. The product is being split out from Doubao App’s “work tasks” mode, which went live in June, and is intended to become a new office entry point as ByteDance expands Doubao from an AI chat tool into an AI work platform that can call tools, execute tasks and connect to enterprise systems.

Jiemian News reported that ByteDance has added office-related functions to Doubao at a rapid pace over the past week, including a virtual desktop, phone-to-PC remote control, local and cloud computer modes, a side workbench, a skills store and connectors. The article said these pieces together form the infrastructure needed for an AI agent to work, act and connect to external ecosystems. It also said Tencent WorkBuddy, launched in March 2026, had 20.97 million desktop monthly visits in June, ranking first and ahead of the combined total of ByteDance’s TRAE and Alibaba’s QoderWork, according to Analysys data cited in the report.

The article said ByteDance adjusted its business at the end of July, integrating the Feishu product team with the Doubao product team into a new Doubao product unit, while the commercialization team was further aligned with Volcano Engine’s enterprise services system. It described Feishu as the key asset because its documents, meetings, multi-dimensional tables, project management tools, connectors and permission systems can be拆解 into enterprise capabilities that Doubao can call. The report also said Doubao’s work-task mode is currently free, while its June paid professional version has a standard package priced at 68 yuan and a premium package at 500 yuan. It added that the company faces high token costs for complex agent tasks and a tougher B2B sales challenge, with Feishu’s penetration in manufacturing, retail and government still below DingTalk and WeCom.
