i’m watching Dusk more closely than i was a few months ago, and my first assumption was pretty simple: privacy sounded like the main story. The more i look at it, the more that feels incomplete. What keeps standing out to me is the attempt to make confidentiality part of the actual financial infrastructure, through its Layer-1 design and the Confidential Security Contract standard, rather than treating privacy as something added around the edges.
i’ve been noticing that this changes the question for me. Confidential smart contracts are interesting technically, but the harder part is what happens when real applications have to depend on them. Financial systems have requirements around settlement, access, compliance, and information that cannot always be exposed publicly. That’s where Dusk starts becoming more interesting to watch, because the technology has to survive contact with those practical constraints.

I’m looking at whether developers actually find reasons to build around confidential execution, whether contracts generate recurring activity, and whether users have a reason to keep coming back once the novelty wears off.
i’m starting to think the real test for Dusk isn’t whether it can demonstrate that private computation is possible. We already know the technology can be made compelling on paper. The real question for me is whether that privacy becomes useful enough to create persistent network demand and real financial applications.
i’m not sure yet. I keep coming back to actual usage, developer activity, and sustained settlement as the evidence that matters. That’s the part i’m paying attention to now, because technical progress is one thing. Seeing people repeatedly choose the network is something else entirely.
