That was the number that made me stop and look a little closer.
Dusk started with 500M DUSK, with another 500M planned to enter circulation through emissions. But the part I find more interesting is how those emissions decline.
The first four-year period accounts for roughly 250.5M DUSK.
Then the next period drops to about 125.2M.
And after that, it gets cut in half again.
At first, it just looks like another tokenomics rule.
But the more I looked at it, the more I started thinking about what happens years down the line.
Dusk mainnet only started rolling out in late 2024, and Hyperstaking came in March 2025. So this system is still pretty young. There simply isn't enough history yet to know how the economics behave once the network matures.
The number I really care about isn't just the amount of DUSK being emitted.
It's fees.
If network activity stays low, emissions will continue doing most of the work to incentivize participation.
But if transactions and fees gradually become meaningful while emissions keep getting cut every four years, that could create a very different balance.
That's the part I'm watching.
I don't think the data is strong enough yet to make a big conclusion.
But there's one question I can't get out of my head:
Can Dusk build enough real fee activity before the emissions become too small to carry the network?
