#sandboxsandsuspectedinfinitemintflawonbase What if 14.9B
could be minted out of thin air?

That’s what on-chain data is showing.

PeckShield flagged around 14.9B
minted across just 2 addresses on
August 22.

For context:

SAND’s max supply is 3B.

So the amount minted was almost 5x the entire max supply.

But here’s the part people are missing:

14.9B minted does NOT mean 14.9B was stolen.

The Sandbox says the exploit was contained and the affected SAND was isolated on Base and BNB Chain.

The real question is much bigger:

How did the bridge allow unbacked SAND to be minted in the first place?

This is why cross-chain bridges remain one of the biggest security risks in crypto.

Would you trust a token if its bridge could suddenly mint billions more?$SAND $EUL $GSB
