I left thinking about something else entirely.

Here's what got me: the bridge itself didn't break. The zk layer, the consensus, none of that was touched. What gave way was a team-managed wallet, the kind of operational component every bridge quietly depends on and nobody really audits in public. Dusk moved fast, paused services, coordinated with Binance once part of the flow surfaced there. Reasonable response. But it exposed the gap between "protocol-level security" and "the humans running the infra layer", two things I'd been treating as one.

I'd assumed bridge risk mostly lived in the contract code. Turns out the softer surface, the operational one, is just as load-bearing. Still not sure how you audit for that.
