I’ve been looking deeper into Dusk, and one thing has started to change the way I see the network.
At first, I assumed the main story was simply its privacy technology. That’s understandable—$DUSK has spent years building infrastructure around confidential finance, with mainnet launching in January 2025.
But looking at the progress since launch, the more interesting development may be how the network itself is being restructured.
Dusk has already gone through upgrades such as blob transactions and PLONK V2. More importantly, it appears to be moving toward a layered architecture where different parts of the system have clearly defined roles.
DuskDS focuses on consensus, staking, data availability, and settlement. DuskEVM provides developers with a familiar Solidity/EVM environment, while privacy can be introduced at the application level when it actually makes sense.
To me, that’s a meaningful shift.
Privacy is valuable, but requiring every developer to build around specialized privacy infrastructure can also create unnecessary friction. @Dusk seems to be addressing that tradeoff instead of treating privacy as something every application must handle in the same way.
Still, architecture is easy to appreciate on paper.
The real test will be adoption: How many applications remain active? How much activity flows through DuskEVM? And, most importantly, will meaningful real-world assets actually be issued and settled through DuskDS?
Those metrics should tell us whether this architectural redesign is truly useful—or simply looks cleaner on a diagram.
