Every rule, every quiet restriction, every person who was allowed to see it or move it—those things lived in the room around the certificate, not just on the face of it.
That’s the piece that keeps sticking with me. A token can look complete on a screen, clean and transferable, yet the real constraints that make a market work stay outside. The checks, the privacy that still allows verification, the finality that institutions actually need—those don’t automatically follow the token. They have to be rebuilt or they remain offline.
Some projects are trying to bring more of that weight onto the chain instead of leaving it behind. It’s slower. It asks harder questions. Most attention still goes to the lighter versions that feel finished sooner.
I don’t know how many people will stay with the slower path once the novelty of the simple wrap wears off. The difference only shows when something has to be proven, not just transferred.
