Crypto Users Stay Alert
Operation ASTERIX
Cybersecurity firm Rapid7 has uncovered a large-scale crypto phishing operation dubbed Operation ASTERIX involving roughly 885,000 phone numbers.
The campaign reportedly used phishing emails, phone calls and fake wallet applications impersonating trusted brands such as Ledger Trezor and Exodus to trick users into revealing their recovery phrases.
Rapid7 also found evidence of crypto-account validation showing how attackers can turn large datasets into highly targeted phishing campaigns.
The key reminder for every crypto user:
Never share your seed phrase
Download wallet apps only from official sources
Be cautious of unexpected support calls
No legitimate wallet provider needs your recovery phrase
In crypto one simple mistake can put an entire wallet at risk. Stay cautious and verify before you trust.
