What matters most in regulated finance?

What if privacy in finance doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing?

I don’t think every financial transaction needs to be handled in exactly the same way.

There are things you probably wouldn’t want sitting in public, especially when they involve personal details or sensitive business information.

At the same time, keeping something private shouldn’t mean that nobody can verify what happened.

That’s what makes @Dusk interesting to me.

Instead of treating privacy as something that is either completely on or completely off, different financial activities could have different levels of transparency.

That seems much more practical for regulated finance.

Compliance still matters. Verification still matters. But the information used to prove something doesn’t necessarily have to be visible to everyone.

This is where I think programmable privacy starts to make real sense.
