Was scrolling through Dusk's documentation looking for something else entirely, and this term kept showing up — Zedger. Hadn't heard it anywhere before, which usually means either it's not important, or nobody's talking about it enough.
Turns out it's the second one.
Zedger is Dusk's model specifically built for security tokens — the kind that represent actual regulated financial instruments, not just generic crypto assets. It's built on top of the same privacy foundation as regular transactions, but with an extra layer for things like transfer restrictions and ownership rules baked directly into how the token moves.
What stood out to me is that most projects treat "security token" as a label you slap on an ERC-20 and call it compliant. Zedger treats it as an actual different category of asset, with different requirements from the ground up, not an afterthought.
@Dusk_Foundation # doesn't talk about this loudly, which honestly makes me trust it more. It reads like something built because it was needed, not because it sounds good in a pitch deck.
What I still wonder about is adoption. A well-designed standard means nothing if the institutions issuing these securities never actually show up to use it. The engineering can be right and the timing can still be early.
