METAPLANET MOVES 2,100 BTC INTO A U.S.-LISTED COMPANY 🇺🇸
Metaplanet is expanding its Bitcoin treasury strategy into the U.S. through a $134.6 million deal with Super League Enterprise (Nasdaq: SLE).
Under the agreement, Metaplanet will use 2,100 BTC and $2.5 million in cash to acquire 95.7% of SLE. Once the transaction is expected to close in Q4 2026, SLE will be renamed Superplanet Inc., change its ticker to SUPA, and become a consolidated subsidiary of Metaplanet.
The key point is that Metaplanet is not simply acquiring a gaming company. It is turning a U.S.-listed entity into a platform for deploying its Bitcoin strategy in the dollar market.
Superplanet will continue operating its existing gaming, advertising and media businesses. Meanwhile, Metaplanet will have the right to appoint 5 of 9 board members, giving it control over the company.
More importantly, Superplanet will have the ability to raise up to $210 million from Metaplanet over the next 24 months through preferred shares. Bitcoin will serve as collateral for future capital-raising activities.
Metaplanet currently holds around 43,000 BTC, worth approximately $2.6 billion at the time of the announcement. CEO Simon Gerovich said the Bitcoin allocated to the transaction represents less than 5% of the company’s treasury.
SLE shares briefly surged more than 80% after the announcement, from a market capitalization of only around $5 million before the deal.
This is a different approach to the traditional Bitcoin treasury model. Rather than simply accumulating BTC on the balance sheet, Metaplanet is building a U.S.-listed entity that can potentially leverage Bitcoin, raise capital and develop Bitcoin-related financial products.
Can Metaplanet’s “Bitcoin treasury in the U.S.” model create a new growth cycle for SUPA, or will leverage become its biggest weakness?
