Trump is putting serious pressure behind the CLARITY Act, the legislation designed to finally establish a clear SEC/CFTC divide for the crypto industry.

At Wednesday’s White House crypto summit, major players including Coinbase, Kraken, Ripple, Robinhood, Gemini, Chainlink, Nasdaq and ICE were in the room, alongside SEC Chair Atkins and CFTC Chair Selig. Trump openly called for Congress to pass a “fair version” of the bill so the US can stay ahead of China and other global competitors.

Why it matters: the CLARITY Act would define which agency oversees different digital assets and establish clearer rules for crypto platforms. The bill already passed the House but remains stalled in the Senate.

The numbers are tight: Republicans hold 53 Senate seats, meaning roughly 6 Democrats would need to support the measure to reach the 60-vote threshold. The next major test is expected around the September 15 cloture vote.

With major financial institutions backing clearer crypto rules and regulators already developing their own frameworks, the pressure is building fast.

If the bill clears the Senate, it could become a major turning point for US crypto regulation—potentially accelerating tokenized assets, RWAs and derivatives infrastructure.

One bill. One key vote. September could be decisive.
