I'm watching Dusk sit at this strange intersection where cryptography has to answer to compliance, and neither side fully trusts the other yet. The zero-knowledge proofs underneath do their quiet work, hiding what needs hiding, but the moment a regulator asks for a controlled glimpse, the system has to prove that privacy and disclosure aren't actually opposites. That's the part nobody demos convincingly.

I'm looking at the XSC standard the way you'd look at a bridge still being load-tested — the design is sound on paper, tokenized securities moving with confidentiality baked in, but paper doesn't settle real capital under real legal scrutiny. The gap between "designed for regulated markets" and "used by regulated markets" is wide, and I notice how often that gap gets glossed over in the framing.

I'm waiting for the moment an actual dispute forces selective disclosure — not a testnet scenario, a real audit. That's where programmable privacy either holds its shape or turns into a mess of exceptions nobody anticipated.

What might survive is something smaller and quieter than the pitch: a working settlement layer a few institutions trust enough to route real value through, without the grand narrative attached.
