📊 The Gen Z Perspective: What the Data Actually Says

Gen Z is often portrayed as the generation of fast-moving trends, short attention spans, and constant trading.

But Binance Research paints a more interesting picture.

The latest analysis looks at Gen Z activity across direct equities, bStocks, and TradFi perpetuals and some of the findings challenge the stereotype.

🟡 Gen Z isn't trading the most

Across the products studied, Gen Z had the lowest trading frequency among working-age cohorts.

In TradFi-Perps, the average Gen Z account made around 13 trades per month, compared with 17 for Millennials, 16.5 for Gen X, and 19 for Baby Boomers.

In bStocks, Gen Z averaged just 3 trades per month.

🟡 Many are buyers rather than constant sellers

22% of Gen Z direct-equity accounts had never placed a sell order.

And when looking at accounts that bought more than they sold:

• 76% of Gen Z bStocks accounts were net accumulators
• 77% were net accumulators in direct equities
• 60% were net accumulators in TradFi-Perps

The bStocks figure was the highest among the generations studied.

🟡 Leverage isn't dominating Gen Z behavior

The research also found relatively low participation in leveraged and inverse products.

88.2% of Gen Z TradFi-Perps accounts recorded no leveraged/inverse ETF activity, while the figure was 98.9% in bStocks.

🟡 ETFs are becoming more noticeable

Unleveraged ETFs accounted for 21.9% of Gen Z net equity inflow in July, up from 18.5% in June.

At the same time, Gen Z's total net equity deployment fell 17.4%, while net inflow to unleveraged ETFs declined only 2.0%.
