I've been in crypto long enough to be a little tired of the same story being told with a different logo.
That's probably why TermMax caught my attention. Not in a “this changes everything” kind of way. More like, I saw what they're trying to do and thought, okay, this is actually addressing a problem people have.
Borrowing with a fixed rate sounds simple until you remember how messy DeFi gets in the real world. Rates move, collateral moves faster, liquidity disappears at the worst possible time, and suddenly the nice clean model doesn't look so clean anymore. TermMax is trying to bring fixed-rate borrowing and lending together with options trading, which is interesting, but it also means there's more that can go wrong.
I've seen plenty of protocols look great when everything is going up. That's not the test I'm interested in anymore. I want to see what happens when the market gets boring, liquidity gets thin, and nobody is farming incentives just for the sake of it.
I’m still watching from a distance. I like the direction, but I’m not ready to call it anything more than that. The idea makes sense to me. Whether the market actually wants it badly enough is another question.
Maybe that's what feels different here. It isn't trying to convince me that crypto has entered some new era. It's just trying to make a financial market work a little better. After watching a few cycles, honestly, that's enough to make me pay attention.
