Last night, I decided to dive deeper into the Dusk Network, specifically their Proof-of-Blind-Bid consensus mechanism. Most blockchains offer a single answer to the question "how to choose a validator?" by forcing participants to publicly disclose their staking balances, while Dusk offers a hidden and mathematically isolated selection 🧐.
I like the depth of their internal architecture: this feature honestly protects the network from targeted attacks on large validators, since staking transactions and the frozen coin volumes themselves are hidden using zero-knowledge. This is important because in corporate finance, no one wants to reveal their net worth to competitors for the sake of network security... But I also think that complicating consensus with blind staking requires massive computational power to generate ZK proofs on the user side. This shows that the creators have sacrificed simplicity for total privacy.
While pondering these questions, I found myself wondering: does the market really need such a complex and cryptographically isolated consensus, or is @Dusk solving a very specific problem for large funds that ordinary users have never considered? Are we willing to trade proof generation time for absolute node privacy, or is classic, open staking sufficient for the industry?
