The importance of Dusk's Financial Focus
All blockchain doesn't must contend with the same users.
Some networks are looking to be more of a platform for gaming, to DeFi. Dusk Network has taken a more focused path, building a financial infrastructure and privacy needs that accompany it.
I believe it's a matter of focus.
Traditional financial systems deal with vast volumes of data which can't just be made public. Meanwhile, institutions must have access to reliable records and programmable rules and processes that can be verified. Many of these benefits come from the blockchain, but the transparency of blockchain can be an issue when dealing with financial activity.
Dusk is trying to tackle this issue at the network level.
Dusk is a Layer-1 blockchain that enables the use of confidential smart contracts and is used to create the Confidential Security Contract (XSC) standard. The concept is to provide a space for financial applications to have an environment where blockchain functionality and confidentiality can coexist instead of having to choose between the two.
It's more than just a crypto narrative, that's what makes Dusk interesting.
The larger opportunity might be tokenized financial products, regulated markets and others where privacy isn't just a preference, but business requirement.
The ecosystem is still in its infancy, but it is heading in a direction: develop blockchain infrastructure based on the actual financial system.
