JANE STREET NOW HOLDS NEARLY 1 BILLION IN BITCOIN ETFs 🏦₿
Jane Street, one of Wall Street’s largest market makers, has disclosed significant Bitcoin exposure through U.S. spot ETFs.
According to its latest 13F filing with the SEC, Jane Street holds approximately $990 million across Bitcoin ETFs, equivalent in value to roughly 15,394 BTC at current prices. The largest position is BlackRock’s IBIT at around $828 million, alongside Fidelity’s FBTC and Grayscale’s Bitcoin fund.
The shift becomes more striking compared with Q1 2026, when Jane Street disclosed only about $225.6 million in IBIT. The latest filing therefore shows a substantial change in reported Bitcoin ETF exposure within a relatively short period.
There is an important caveat. A 13F filing captures holdings at quarter-end and does not reveal Jane Street’s overall directional exposure to Bitcoin. As a major market maker, the firm may simultaneously use options, derivatives and other hedging strategies.
The disclosure also follows an unusually volatile month for Jane Street. The firm reportedly lost around 15 billion in July, yet still generated more than $40 billion in net trading revenue during the first seven months of 2026, already exceeding its $39.6 billion total for 2025.
The broader signal may be more important than the headline number: Bitcoin ETFs have become liquid enough for major financial institutions to deploy hundreds of millions, or even close to 1 billion, through regulated products.
Does Jane Street’s $990 million exposure reflect conviction in Bitcoin, or is it mainly part of a much larger market-making strategy?
