$DUSK caught my attention for the wrong reason.
The January 17 incident was described as “unusual activity” involving a team-managed wallet, with the bridge paused and no user funds reportedly affected. But outside trackers were pointing to losses in the millions. That gap between the official wording and what the market was seeing is what bothered me.
The bigger question for me isn’t just the incident—it’s actual network usage.
Dusk has an interesting pitch: privacy through ZK technology while still supporting regulatory compliance. But explorer activity still makes it difficult to separate real adoption from testing, staking, and internal activity. The EVM side has contracts, yet activity appears quiet, while privacy naturally makes parts of the network harder to evaluate.
I’m still watching $DUSK because the technology and institutional use case are interesting. But before getting more bullish, I want two things: clearer communication when something goes wrong and stronger signs of organic on-chain activity.
Partnership announcements are easy to publish.
