I spent the morning digging through Dusk and one detail genuinely stood out: privacy isn’t treated as an extra feature. It’s built into the base layer through zero-knowledge cryptography allowing transactions to remain confidential while their validity can still be proven.
The simplest way I understand ZK proofs is: prove something is true without exposing the underlying data. You can prove solvency without revealing your balance eligibility without exposing unnecessary identity details or settlement correctness without publishing every number involved.
That creates an interesting middle ground between crypto’s usual extremes: complete secrecy or complete transparency. Dusk’s selective-disclosure approach aims to keep sensitive information private while allowing authorized parties to verify what they actually need.
Zedger and RWA tokenization fit naturally into this financial focus, while Dusk EVM could make the ecosystem more approachable for Solidity developers.
NPEX is interesting because it shows the infrastructure being tested in an institutional setting, but I wouldn’t confuse that with proven large-scale adoption.
My biggest question is whether provably compliant will hold up when real regulators, jurisdictions and disputes get involved. The cryptography may work but regulatory acceptance is a separate test.
For me, that’s still the unanswered part.
