China Economic Data Takeaways (Jan–Jul 2026): Steady but Slowed down in July

• Industrial Production:
Industrial
output grew 5.3% YoY through July, but single-month growth slowed to 4.5% YoY in July

FAI fell 6.7% YoY in Jan–Jul, deepening from the 5.7% decline recorded in H1.
• Retail Sales:
Consumer spending reached 28.77 trillion yuan (+1.2% YoY Jan–Jul). July growth softened to 0.6% YoY, pulling back from June's 1.0% pace.
• Unemployment:
National surveyed urban unemployment rate edged up to 5.2% in July, compared to 5.0% in June.
• Tier-1 Housing:
New home prices in top-tier cities fell 1.1% YoY in July, with the decline narrowing by 0.2 percentage points. Beijing (-2.3%), Guangzhou (-2.2%), and Shenzhen (-2.9%) dropped, while Shanghai bucked the trend (+3.0%).
