Ethereum is quietly exploring a Bitcoin-inspired scaling idea.

Vitalik Buterin just credited Bitcoin developers for Utreexo while discussing Ethereum’s proposed direction: a hybrid of UTXO-style state, dynamic state and cryptographic proofs.

One proposal estimates ~99.8% less permanent state for simple payments.

This isn’t Ethereum replacing accounts with UTXOs. It’s Ethereum trying to make nodes lighter without sacrificing decentralization.

If this works, Ethereum’s scaling story could become very different.

Would you call this a win for Ethereum — or a win for Bitcoin’s original ideas?
