I’ve heard the 24/7 markets argument so many times that I barely stop on it anymore. Crypto trades all night, weekends don’t matter, settlement keeps moving. Fine. But once the asset is a regulated security, I’m not sure the surrounding machinery can behave the same way.
That’s the part I keep coming back to.
A tokenized security might trade at 2 a.m., but what happens if an ownership check fails, a wallet needs review, or some compliance condition changes halfway through the flow? The blockchain doesn’t care what time it is. People and institutions still do.
Dusk makes this tension more interesting because the asset layer can carry restrictions while the underlying network keeps operating. In theory, that means compliance can sit closer to the transaction itself instead of waiting for someone to check it later.
Still, I’m not sure automation solves everything. Rules change. Exceptions happen. Someone eventually has to interpret edge cases, and that is usually where friction comes back.
Maybe 24/7 tokenized markets won’t depend on compliance teams staying awake around the clock. Maybe they’ll depend on how much judgment can safely be converted into rules without making the system brittle.
At least from where I’m standing, that feels like the harder question.
