I went back and actually read up on what makes Dusk technically different, instead of just following the news updates, and it clicked why they call themselves a privacy blockchain for financial applications specifically, not just "another privacy chain."
The core of it is something called the Confidential Security Contract standard, or XSC. Most smart contract platforms make everything public by default, which sounds fine until you're dealing with actual financial instruments, securities, fund structures, deal terms. Nobody serious wants that fully exposed on-chain. @Dusk built XSC so smart contracts can stay confidential while still being verifiable and compliant, which is a much harder problem than it sounds.
This is really the foundation everything else sits on. The NPEX partnership, the RWA tokenization push, DuskEVM, Moonlight, all of it makes more sense once you understand XSC is the base layer making confidential smart contracts actually possible at the protocol level, not bolted on as an app-layer feature.
Feels like the kind of infrastructure decision that's easy to overlook now but matters a lot once real institutions start building on top of it.
