I’ve been around crypto long enough to know that when everyone starts talking about “better capital efficiency,” I usually start looking for the part they’re not mentioning.
That’s what made me stop at TermMax.
The idea of fixed-rate borrowing and lending isn’t flashy, but maybe that’s exactly why I find it interesting. I’ve seen how quickly floating rates can change the mood of an entire position. Something that looked completely manageable suddenly feels expensive just because the market shifted.
TermMax is trying to make that part more predictable, while also bringing leverage and options trading into the same picture. I like the thinking behind it, but I’m still cautious. Predictability in one area doesn’t make DeFi predictable overall. Collateral can still fall, liquidity can still disappear, and fixed maturities can become uncomfortable when the market moves the wrong way.
I’m not convinced yet, and I don’t think I should be. I’ve seen too many projects sound reasonable before reality had a chance to test them.
Still, I keep coming back to TermMax. Maybe because it isn’t trying to make uncertainty disappear. It’s trying to put a boundary around one part of it. After watching so many cycles, that feels worth paying attention to.
