#dusk $DUSK Spent time back in Dusk Network's technical docs today, trying to understand what actually changes once confidential transactions move onto the EVM layer.
That's what Hedger is. A privacy engine Dusk built for DuskEVM, combining homomorphic encryption with zero knowledge proofs, a pairing most privacy systems don't attempt since they usually lean on ZK proofs alone.
My first assumption was that this just meant hidden balances. But Hedger also lays groundwork for obfuscated order books, which matters for institutional trading, since visible order flow lets others front run or read your intent.
That raised a harder question though. If holdings and transfers stay fully encrypted end to end, what exactly stays visible enough for the auditability Dusk keeps promising regulators. Encryption and auditability usually pull against each other, so where does Dusk draw that line.
I'm still working through the cryptography, so I don't want to overstate how settled this is in my head. For anyone who's dug into homomorphic encryption more than I have, does pairing it with ZK proofs hold up at scale, or does it introduce tradeoffs that only show up later?
