DuskEVM is the Ethereum-compatible
execution layer of the Dusk blockchain. It lets developers deploy standard Solidity smart contracts using familiar tools (Hardhat, Foundry, MetaMask, etc.) while settling on Dusk’s own infrastructure and paying gas in $DUSK

Dusk uses a modular design:

-DuskDS → consensus, settlement, and data availability

-DuskEVM → EVM smart contract execution

-A native bridge moves DUSK between the two layers

Built on the OP Stack with EIP-4844 support, DuskEVM settles directly onto DuskDS (not Ethereum). Transactions go through a sequencer, get included in L2 blocks, and are batched to DuskDS. Target block time is ~2 seconds. Mainnet Chain ID is 744; testnet is 745.
The key differentiator is Hedger, Dusk’s privacy module for DuskEVM. It combines homomorphic encryption and zero-knowledge proofs to enable confidential transfers, encrypted balances, and selective disclosure for compliance — while remaining fully EVM-compatible.
In short, DuskEVM gives builders the ease of Ethereum tooling with the privacy and regulatory-ready settlement that regulated finance and real-world assets require.
