Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said the pilot area in southern Lebanon should be expanded and that the timetable for Israel's withdrawal from Lebanese territory should be made clear. According to Sina Finance, Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem reiterated that Hezbollah rejects the U.S.-brokered trilateral framework agreement between Lebanon, Israel, and the United States.

According to Sina Finance, Salam made the remarks during a meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa and Joseph Clearfield, head of the U.S. Lebanon Military Coordination Group. The two sides discussed the military aspects of the framework agreement and the latest situation in southern Lebanon.

According to Sina Finance, Qassem said in a speech at an event marking the 20th anniversary of the end of the 2006 Lebanon-Israel war that the United States was allowing Israel to carry out military operations in Lebanon, and that Israel would not commit "all these acts of aggression" without U.S. support. He said Hezbollah would continue to resist.

Qassem also criticized the Lebanese government's handling of the framework agreement talks, saying the deal deprived Lebanon of the ability to take legal action against Israel and questioning how the government was responding to Israel's continued actions in southern Lebanon. The pilot area mechanism stems from the trilateral framework agreement reached by Lebanon, Israel, and the United States at the end of June this year.
