I didn’t expect the part that pulled me into Dusk to be its transaction setup.
There are two sides to it: Moonlight for activity that can stay public, and Phoenix for transfers that need privacy. What really clicked for me was selective disclosure. Instead of showing everything or hiding everything, you can reveal only what an authorized party actually needs to verify. That feels much closer to how financial privacy should work.
I’ve also been digging through the new Dusk Wallet and Dusk Connect. Public and private transfers, shielding and staking are being brought into one wallet experience, while dApps get a standard way to connect and request approval. It’s still in developer preview, though, so I’m watching to see how it feels when real users start pushing it beyond the test environment.
The AEGIS hard fork was harder to ignore. Dusk fixed 39 security findings, including seven critical ones, and published a detailed account of what went wrong. Not exactly a comfortable read, but I’d rather see the messy details than a polished statement that says nothing.
The technology is there. Now I want to see what actually gets issued, traded and settled on it. That’s the part I’m still digging into.
