#dusk $DUSK @Dusk I used to think Citadel was just another identity layer added on top of a chain, basically another box to tick for compliance.
But the more I looked into it, the more interesting it became.
The cool part isnt what Citadel stores, its what it DOESN’T need to store.
Instead of asking users to give away all their personal data, the idea is simple: prove the claim, verify it and move on. The credential doesnt need to sit there forever either. Once the claim expires, the credential becomes irrelevant.
And honestly, I think thats a pretty different way of handling identity.
The problem is traditional systems keep asking for disclosure again and again.
Citadel is more about proving something without exposing everything.
But there’s one risk I cant ignore.
If you have to keep proving yourself every time you move somewhere else, verification can turn into a switching cost. People might stay because leaving is annoying or expensive.
Still, I dont fully agree that this is what will keep users around.
If Citadel makes credentials portable across ecosystems while keeping data private, people might stay simply because its better.
Thats the real test imo.
