According to Yonhap, South Korea's M2 money supply rose for a seventh straight month in June as short-term deposits and money market funds increased, Bank of Korea data showed Friday. The country's M2, a key gauge that includes cash, demand deposits and other liquid financial instruments, averaged 4,213 trillion won ($2.97 trillion) in June, up 0.7%, or 29.4 trillion won, from a month earlier in preliminary figures from the central bank. By sector, liquidity increased by 45.7 trillion won among nonfinancial corporations and 5.4 trillion won among financial institutions, while liquidity held by households and nonprofit organizations declined by 19.8 trillion won.
